Hi,
for the past three weeks I've been getting this error in Data Recovery 2.0:
Created snapshot "_*****_"
...
Trouble reading files, error -3948 ( vcb api exception)
1 task errors
I have around 20 computers which I am backing up with Data Recovery, and I am getting this error on four of them. Nothing has been changed, no changes in DNS or WMWare tools. If I look at the Restore-tab, there is a restoration point for these computers even though it says the backups failed in the email report.
I have this error in the computers event viewer - system:
Event id 25
Source: VolSnap
The shadow copies of volume C: were deleted because the shadow copy storage could not grow in time. Consider reducing the IO load on the system or choose a shadow copy storage volume that is not being shadow copied.
So something related to Volume Shadow Copy - maybe it runs out of space and can't create the snapshot of the computer? I found this "article":
http://www.resole.nl/vmware-data-recovery-failed-to-create-snapshot-error-3960-3948-3941/#more-1255
which suggests editing VMWare Tools and removing the Volume Shadow Copy Provider. But the question is why? This has worked before with the same settings.
Anyone have faced this problem? It has nothing to do with DNS. That works and like I said, nothing has been changed. All help is welcome.
