Hi, we're evaluating ESXi5 and using Data Recovery 2. Unfortunately, we've been seeing failures during backups and the logs show many snapshots being created and removed, over and over.
So, I noticed a message when I view the VM "Consolidation needed". I've tried to consolidate, but it always fails after a certain percent complete saying:
"The available Memory resources in the parent resource pool are insufficient fo the operation."
The Error stack repeats four times:
"This virtual machine has more than 100 redo logs in a single branch of its snapshot tree. Deletiing some of the snapshots or consolidating the redo logs will improve performance. The maximum number of redo logs supported is 255"
The host has 24GB of memory. I get the same error if I shut down all VMs and try to consolidate. The VM has a number of drives, but the issue stems from backup up two 2TB drives.
The host was upgraded from ESXi.4 to ESXi.5.
I'd like to consolidate and remove all snapshots and see if Data Recovery and do the job properly so I can sign off of VMWare and finally get my client to pay for licensing Essentials. Does anyone have a solution?
Thanks,
-Carter
