vDP - Advanced Login for Data Protection Restore Client

Anybody else having trouble with this? The basic logon works fine, but when I try to use the advanced logon (and yes, the user does have vCenter admin rights, as specified in the admin guide, page 42 onwards).

I just keep getting "Login Failed. Unable to connect to server. Please check your network connectivity"

 

I know the network is fine - this is the same machine that I access the web client from (and run vDP from)

 

I am using user@domain (which works fine for the web client). I've also tried domain\user with no luck.

 

 

Is there a permission I neeed to set in SSO or assign specific vCenter privileges?

 

Update: I had previously logged in as "Basic" and the browser appeared to have cached some stuff, so I logged out and tried again.

Now I'm just getting "Login Failed. vCenter username or password incorrect".

 

VERY frustrating to say the least.
