Help, I am going insane. A couple of days ago, I was reading a vmware doc on how to extend storage for vmware data recovery that specifically dealt with RDM disks. I for the life of me cant find that link anymore and really need to do this procedure. I have a SAN hosted RDM disk that I need to extend.
The procedure went something like this from memory:
1. shutdown data recovery appliance.
2. remove the RDM disk, noting with SCSI ID it was using
3. on SAN, increase size of RDM disk
4. re-add RDM disk to the appliance, using the same SCSI ID.
5. boot the appliance, then extend the RDM disk so the OS can see it.
It sounds logical, but I really need to refer back to that doc for any gotchas, etc. There were instructions for virtual and physical RDMs, mine is virtual, but I dont recall the difference in procedures.
Has anyone done this recently, or does anyone know where I can find the link? I checked the KB without luck.
