Does vSphere support FC attached tape drive ?

Dear all,

We are running a cluster of vSphere 4.1 Hosts.  We are planning to add a FC tape drive to the SAN and BackupExec will be our backup software.

We would like to know whether vSphere 4.1 supports FC attached tape drive ?  If it does, does it mean that we have to create a VM with virtual FC HBAs ?
