Does anyone have any suggestions for backing up Virtual Machines with RDM's?
We have a two node SQL Cluster in development. While we are doing full Windows backups using NBU, we'd also like the ability to perform "bare metal" restores from backed up VMDK's. We have no requirement to backup the data on the RDM LUN using this.
We typically use vRanger, which has worked well for us, but errors on these VM's, even when the physical disks aren't selected. From what I've read, it seems a lot of backup products choke on this, is there one that works?
The VMDK's for the cluster nodes reside on a seperate LUN for those two only. I have thought about performing clones of the LUN, or using Snapshots, but would rather I have something I can hand off to people I don't want playing in the SAN.
It's all currently being replicated via RecoverPoint, but recovering an image can be fairly slow.
