Recreating VDR appliance without losing existing backups

Hello,

I'm having a bunch of trouble with my existing VDR appliance when trying to do restores - it stopped at 0% on every task and failed with a variety of reasons. I tried logging into the console, but while I can use the root/vmw@re login at the web UI, I can't use it at the console. (root/changeme doesn't work either).

Anyway, I figured the easiest way to move forward was just to deploy a new appliance and let it catalog my existing backup stores. I'm reading the instructions which say:

  1. Choose a Add> Hard Disk.
  2. Choose Use an Existing Virtual Disk
  3. Browse to the data store and select the virtual disk which is connected to the older appliance as destination.
  4. Choose the SCSI address.
  5. Choose Finish.

However when I go to add an existing disk, I'm looking in my_nfs_mount/folder/VmWareDataRecovery, all I see is Backupstore.cat, Backupstore.cat.bak, a folder called BackupStore, and several numbered folders under it full of slab files.

What am I doing wrong? I just want to point my new appliance at my old backups so that I can restore.

Thanks!
